Aerobics Choreography: Dancing to A Different Beat

Aerobics choreography uses different steps called maneuvers in each exercise. The different maneuvers include notations, floor maneuvers, step maneuvers and combinations of step and floor maneuvers.

The music in professional choreographed fitness music is created to help the instructor keep the beat to 8 or a 32 count phrase.

Aerobic choregraphy is done by alternating your feet like marching. You step 4 times on the lead foot in a count of eight. Alternate your leading foot on your moves for a balanced workout. The first beat is called the downbeat, while the second beat is an up beat. To count, you need to know there are 4 down beats and 4 upbeats to create an eight count step.

An aerobic choreogrphy upbeat example is the knee lift or sometimes called kick. With your right leg you kick by stepping onto your left leg. It's called a step-kick, and the down beat is a step-step.

Pay attention to your music and see if some songs fit better with different types of choreography. See if you can pick out the downbeat and upbeat and see if thats why some moves fit and some don't.

Aerobics choreography videos are good for the beginner with little or no experience and the intermediate level user as well as the more advance users. The intensive choreography imparted through aerobics choreography motivate the user to try the video at home. The aerobics choreography videos show the home exerciser how easy aerobic dance can be.

If you would rather join a group to do your aerobics, try an aerobics class. Classes vary in the level of aerobics choreography. Basic level classes will often have a series of basic moves strung together into a sequence. More advanced classes incorporate dance elements into the sequence. You'll be doing moves such as turns, mambos, and stomps. These elements are put together into 2-3 routines in each class that is taught in class. Aerobics choreography can be complex, but most instructors will offer options for different levels of ability and intensity.
