Find Out If You Suffer From Night Panic Attacks And What You Can Do To Get Rid Of Them

The stressors we have to live with today that cause us to lose sleep were not something that our ancestors had to deal with. Due to such lack of sleep during the night we tend to feel tired and exhausted during the day. If not addressed, these sleepless nights will turn into nocturnal anxiety attacks which will disrupt the normal cycle of our lives.

As humans we have this pattern where we are awake for a certain time and we sleep for a certain time. If we are lucky we are awake for close to 16 hours and we sleep for 8. This is indeed a never ending cycle that we would have to abide by. However, when there is an impediment in the normal course of life, the balance is lost and then problems creep in. People who have a tendency of sleeping less than usual are likely to suffer from chronic sleep problems and one such issue of concern is sleep panic attacks.

I say may because sleep anxiety attacks is not easily diagnosed. You see it is a mix of many symptoms that indicate various sleep disorders. So a reliable diagnosis may be delayed. During the onset of the night panic attacks, you will not be able to sleep well or much for that matter. This will obviously cause you much discomfort and make you very tired the for the rest of the day. When such a situation is encountered, it is recommended to seek a professional help.

The common symptoms of panic attacks while sleeping are insomnia, drowsiness during the day and unpredictable sleeping patterns. Insomnia is more predominant than the other two symptoms in the initial stages. Also panic attacks during sleep are common with people having intermittent sleeping behaviors.

Over 50% of anxiety attacks sufferers are likely to have nocturnal anxiety attacks, but the majority of their attacks occur during the day.

Sadly, people that suffer from panic attacks while sleeping build up a fear of sleeping which makes matters worse. However, turning to sleep pills isn't the way to address these issues as the pills can make you addicted and not clear the problem.

Sleep panic attacks cannot be connected to dreams as the attack tends to come across at the earlier stages of Rapid Eye Movement or REM.Therefore, dreams cannot be held liable for triggering panic attacks. Also, the occurrence of nocturnal anxiety attacks can result in sudden waking up, tremblings, breathlessness, dread, perspiration and tremors. Such symptoms usually come when the person is in deep sleep.

The uncovering of the causes of night panic attacks has not been made. The buildup of carbon dioxide in the body that takes place while we are sleeping has been suspected, by some, to be the cause. This is known to be the "false suffocation alarm."

Panic attacks while sleeping can be eradicated with medications.
All The Same, medicines should be used as a last recourse as these disorders can be cured with certain restrictions and life changes. To be clear, we're talking about anxiety medications and not sleeping pills.

A crucial part of your intervention is for you to make peace with yourself and with your disorder. This doesn't mean that you have to accept it. Just accept that you have it and move peacefully to find a cure. You must understand yourself first and then try to explain it to a friend or your family. The more easily you are able to express your concerns and the occurrences of your attacks the quicker you can free yourself from its grip. Apart from that you must make certain lifestyle changes as well - such as quitting or limiting smoking, caffeine and alcohol. These substances can easily increase the intensity of an attack. Additionally I would say that self help is the best help to cure night panic attacks.
