The New EBook Book Reader From Acer All Set To Join Kindle2
Acer., no bodies fool when it comes to challenging in the notebook space, have announced their plans to enter the ebook book reader arena later this year.
Acer senior manager Jim Wong, president of the companies IT Goods branch, outlined the strategy during an interview with Bloomberg at Acer's headquaters in Taipei.
On the eve of Apple's purported entrance into the tablet sweeps-a device that will serve ebook readers with others-Wong also said the company will furthermore offer "hundreds" of apps online, programs which will support Google's Android program, now running on a number of Acer goods, over and above handling Microsoft's Windows OS.
By July, Acer will be expected to make available an electronic-book reader with a 6-inch black and white display, Mr. Wong informed Bloomberg. "Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble; they are US based. In Western Europe and Asia-Pacific we have publishers to work with, and nearly everyone of them are content owners," he alleged. Acer could go up in opposition to gadgets including the Amazon Kindle , B and N Inc.'s Nook and Sony's Prs-30 and so it will be easy to compare ebook reader models.
Acer also has the Apple "iSlate"-if it appears-in its sights. "We are producing something, and we should observe what happens" J.T. Wang, Acer's CEO, said in the report. "We are going to perform what's more inside a Windows world or in Google's definite OS space."
